Nicole Kidman delivered a heartfelt and emotional speech at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on Friday, dedicating her International Star Award to her late mother, Janelle Kidman.

The Oscar-winning actress was recognized for her performance in the film Babygirl during the festival in Palm Springs, California.

The award was presented by fellow actress and film icon Jamie Lee Curtis.

When Kidman stepped onstage to accept the honor, she quickly turned her focus to her personal loss, referencing the passing of her mother in September.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Kidman shared her feelings about the recent holidays, noting the absence of both her parents.

Her father, Antony Kidman, passed away in 2014. “I went home over Christmas and realized I had lost both of my parents,” she said, her voice heavy with emotion. She credited her parents for instilling in her the love and resilience to persevere despite challenges.

Kidman took a moment during her speech to reflect on the impact her mother had on her life and career.

As she became visibly emotional, she dedicated the award to her late mother, choking up as tears rolled down her face.

Her words highlighted the connection between her family and her success. “My parents gave me the love and resilience to keep moving forward,” she said, acknowledging the strength she draws from their legacy.

Kidman also expressed gratitude to Babygirl director Halina Reijn, praising her for the opportunity to take on the role in the film.

She acknowledged Reijn’s support, specifically mentioning how the director accepted the award on her behalf at the Venice Film Festival in September.

Kidman was unable to attend that event due to her mother’s passing.
