I’m not usually much to care what US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has to say, but this one hits differently.

It might not seem like it, but we drink A LOT, folks.

A LOT!

I’m reading in this New York Post article that 29 million Americans suffer from alcohol use disorder. That’s 10.2% of the 12-and-up population, and likely a much higher percentage when applied to adults only.

What’s more, alcohol consumption has become so popular in our society, many Americans with alcohol use disorder don’t even seek treatment. They just do the thing where the next morning they say they’ll never drink again.

Here’s Surgeon General Vivek Murthy:

That’s 5% of cancer deaths we can attribute to alcohol.

Many of us suffer from alcohol use disorder. Will we continue to risk our lives for a buzz? Or will we change our ways and stop chasing death?

I’ll leave you a link to the Surgeon General’s report here.
