Louisiana Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) says he knows more than he’s telling about how the FBI failed to thwart Wednesday’s terror attack in New Orleans and the threat that more attacks may be imminent.

“We know a lot more than what’s being reported,” Sen. Kennedy revealed Wednesday in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Aishah Hasnie:

“We know a lot more than what’s being reported, Aishah. They are in the middle of an active investigation. I don’t want to do anything to screw it up. I’m also not going to let them take the pressure off.”

Reminding Kennedy that he had promised transparency about the deadly attack, Hasnie pressed on, asking the senator if had the sense that the FBI had been tracking the suspect or “somehow missed” the threat.

Once again, Kennedy said that he “shouldn’t” answer the question – even though he knew the answer:

“I can’t answer that. I can answer that. But, I shouldn’t. I’m going to say it again, Aishah. We are giving the FBI and homeland security a reasonable amount of time to do their job. And by God they are going to do their job.”

Likewise, when asked if Americans in other parts of the U.S. are in danger of being attacked, Sen. Kennedy said he could – but, wouldn’t – answer:

Hasnie: “People coast-to-coast are watching tonight. Are you getting the sense that there is any threat of any other potential attack tonight on any other major city?”

Sen. Kennedy: “I can’t answer that. I can, but I won’t.”

The senator was much less certain when asked if the FBI was being transparent with him:

“You never know. You just never know what they’re not telling us.

“But, I know how to probe pretty hard and get the information.”

Kennedy did, however, say that he believes New Orleans is now safe and reassured its citizens that “We are still in the process of doing everything that we possibly can” to tighten security in the area.
