Angel Studios continues to expand its film library with probably their most interesting premise to date with Homestead, which is available in theaters now.

Here is the pitch for the movie:

“A nuclear bomb is detonated in Los Angeles, and the nation devolves into unprecedented chaos. Ex-Green Beret Jeff Eriksson and his family escape to The Homestead, an eccentric prepper’s fortress nestled in the mountains. As violent threats and apocalyptic conditions creep toward their borders, the residents of The Homestead are left to wonder: how long can a group of people resist both the dangers of human nature and the bloodshed at their doorstep?”

I haven’t watched Homestead yet, but it sounds right up my alley. Here’s a trailer:


If that doesn’t sell you to watch Homestead in theaters, Angel Studios has already released the first episodes of the follow-on series on their app.

Angel Studios continues to push the boundaries of faith-based entertainment, and you know they are onto something when the critics don’t like it but the actual fans do on that one website.

        

You can actually see Homestead being reviewed bombed by the tolerant for its religious premise, so the score is actually higher. I guess the name Angel Studios didn’t register for these ticket buyers. 

Of course, critics regularly “review bomb” most all of the faith-themed cinematic releases these days. Wonder why the press doesn’t seem to notice?
