A double-murderer whose death sentence was commuted by President Biden is now being asked to be released from prison entirely.
Brandon Council, who robbed a bank in 2017 and murdered two women who worked there is asking for release, saying his imprisonment inflicted “severe, unnecessary, and unjustifiable psychological harm” that “can only be accurately construed and assimilated as an act of torture.”
Here is an old local news update from his sentencing:
Heather Turner, the daughter of one of the innocent victims, had reacted with dismay to the commutation:
It is absolutely cruel. This decision would have gutted me anyway, but to do it two days before Christmas. … It literally feels like a Christmas gift to murderers … At no point did the president consider the victims.
Here is the video of the daughters and husband of one of the victims reacting to the injustice:
Give a monster an inch, and they’ll ask for a mile.
