A Christmas-time video is making the rounds on social media for the hilarious misunderstanding about a gift for a Detroit Lions fan.

The recently posted video on TikTok shows the mortified reaction of the football fan when her mother gifted her with a shirt she thought was related to the football team. But there was a glaring problem that the gift-giver was completely unaware of, to the amusement of her family.

“MIL has a history of giving these kind of gifts without knowing the meaning,” read the caption to the TikTok video posted by the woman’s daughter-in-law. “This time the gift was for her single daughter.”

Evidently, the mother thought the “D” in the “She Loves the D” shirt she gave her daughter stood for Detroit.

“The ‘D’ stands for Detroit,” she said in the video clip.

“No, it doesn’t!” one of her sons shouted.

“She can’t wear that,” another said.

The mother explained that she made the purchase from the Detroit Lions store so it had to be okay.

“You know what ‘D’ means, right?” asked another family member as the daughter continued to laugh and hold up the gift.

“Thanks, ma,” she said.

“When your mom is oblivious and your brothers are mortified,” read the caption over the TikTok video.

Social media users joined in the laughs on X where the video has been viewed nearly 2 million times.
