Longstanding protocols for honoring the late President Jimmy Carter threaten to overshadow President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

And many Democrats are gloating over it.

Carter died Sunday at 100 years old, and while many immediately expressed condolences and tributes, some made it all about the politics. President Joe Biden referred to the 39th president as his “dear friend,” but couldn’t resist taking a swipe at Trump in his message. And now, critics of the incoming 47th president are celebrating how Carter’s death will affect Trump’s first hours and days back at the White House.

According to the U.S. flag code, the nation will mourn the passing of a president by flying flags at all federal buildings, federal grounds, and naval vessels at half mast for 30 days. Trump is set to be inaugurated on January 20, and the flags will still be half-mast at the time, painting a somber image for the incoming president and administration.

Leftists displayed their class once again as they celebrated how the optics would put a damper on Trump.

While Carter was not a fan of Trump, the president-elect offered a touching message on his passing.

“I just heard of the news about the passing of President Jimmy Carter,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History.”

“The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans,” Trump added. “For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.”

Social media users blasted leftists for their vengeful gloating at the expense of Carter.
