A simple statement was all it took for Fox News’s Bill Melugin to disabuse an illegal alien advocate of her conflated argument.
The return of President-elect Donald Trump to the White House brings with it the hope of many to see national sovereignty returned to the United States. The scare tactics of those opposed to mass deportations and an end to the status quo on so-called birthright citizenship didn’t take much to fact-check as the Fox News national correspondent proved in calling out National Immigration Law Center President Kica Matos.
During an appearance on MSNBC, the director of Immigration Rights and Radical Justice commented on an initial decline in donations after Trump’s victory, saying, “We noticed it immediately after the elections, but here is what has happened since people are almost waking up and realizing that they have a role to play, both in defending and fighting for democracy, and also for protecting immigrant families.”
“And so what we have seen since the election is an increase in the number of donations,” she continued in the clip shared by BlazeTV national correspondent Julio Rosas, “but not just that, people are also reaching out and saying, ‘What can I do to protect my immigrant neighbors? Where do I donate? What are the things that we need to do as a community to prepare for what we anticipate will be one of the worst moments in our nation’s history when it comes to what is likely to happen to our immigrant populations?’”
Her suggestion on the expected outcome of mass deportations called for one critical correction from Melugin who responded to the post, “Immigrants aren’t being deported. Illegal immigrants are.”
Immigrants aren’t being deported. Illegal immigrants are.

Whether it was talk of detention centers, separating families or suppositions that illegal immigrants were somehow exclusively members of Hispanic communities, corporate media narrative frequently strayed from the reality that the Republican Party remained in favor of legal immigration and opposed those violating the law, especially violent criminals who’d made victims of American citizens and aliens alike.
Trump’s border czar designee Tom Homan spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation about leaders in Democrat-controlled cities that might attempt to defy efforts to remove illegal aliens, noting, “There are federal statutes on the books for knowingly concealing and harboring an illegal alien away from ICE officers. There are statutes on the books about impeding federal law enforcement officers — they’re all felonies.”
“Now these sanctuary cities cannot assist –ok, that’s fine,” he went on. “They can stand aside, that’s fine, but they cannot cross that line. If they cross that line, we’ll be asking the attorney’s office to consider prosecution.”
Reacting to Melugin’s callout of Matos’ conflation, social media users not only lauded the once-celebrated melting pot of the United States through legal immigration but also the ease with which activists were defeated by facts.
Exactly!
Americans are proud to be a nation of immigrants.

It’s deliberate.

Exactly, thank you for catching that gaslighting moment. A person can’t be trusted when they’re being intellectually dishonest and gaslighting good people. Taking advantage of people is very uncool and she can’t be trusted to give the facts fairly, and without prejudice. Ugh!

Well said, sir.

And that, ladies & gentleman, is exactly what any American citizen can expect if entering any foreign country illegally—deportation!

I don’t know why people can’t just get that straight. Thanks for correcting the record Bill. You’ve been on the front lines of this.
