“Iron” Mike Tyson recently revealed that he experienced depression after losing his boxing match to Jake Paul last month. Tyson, who reportedly made $20 million from the fight against Paul, lost by unanimous decision.

In a recent interview with Steve Covino and Rich Davis on Fox Sports Radio, Tyson shared his post-fight emotions. He seems to have experienced a crash following all those training videos leading up to the fight.

“That fight was such a big ascent-we were so up and high, we were so excited,” he said, according to Marca.

“The fight’s over, boom. Wow, I’m kind of depressed a little bit. We got to get back [into] our living situation [daily life], back to living,” added Tyson. “[We were] training for it nine months.”

Mike Tyson ‘Doesn’t Remember’ Anything About The Fight

In retrospect, the highlight of Mike Tyson’s fight with Jake Paul occurred just before they stepped foot in the ring. Tyson showed off a little too much to the crowd during a pre-bout interview.

From there, it all went downhill. Tyson lost, but a significant portion of the boxing fanbase left thinking he had pulled his punches, thus rendering the fight “rigged.”

Worse, the 58-year-old, who had health issues leading up to the highly anticipated fight, also seems to have had much of the matchup fade from his memory already.

“I don’t remember the fight that much. I kind of blanked out a little,” said Tyson.

“I remember coming back from the first round, and Jake is doing some kind of … I don’t know what he was doing [leans forward pretending to bow], and that’s the last thing I remember,” he said.

While the clock was still running in the final round, Paul stopped to pay Tyson homage. It’s something that never would happen in a legitimate fight, even if it was a nice touch to honor a living legend.

Rumors Of Rigging Persist

Mike Tyson saying he doesn’t remember much about the most heavily-promoted boxing match he’s been a part of in years suggests he wasn’t very focused.

Or maybe he was focused more on not hitting Jake.

Leading up to the fight, Tyson and Paul insisted it would be a legitimate matchup. The Texas Commission had sanctioned the bout as an official competitive boxing match rather than an exhibition.

DJ Whoo Kid added to the controversy, suggesting the two fighters had a quiet agreement not to hurt each other. The admission came from a conversation with Paul himself, or so the story goes.

Paul’s boxing promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions, vehemently denied any allegations of the fight being rigged, calling such rumors “illogical and inane.”
