Wikipedia allocated over $50 million of its $177 million budget to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, according to its annual budget report.
The news sparked outrage, with increasing calls for donations to the controversial website to cease until it disbands its “woke” policies.
Tesla owner Elon Musk called for significant editorial changes to the website.
Wikipedia has long been accused of prejudice against conservatives and the targeting of political opponents, often labelling anyone to the right of centre as “far-right.”
The website even asserted that President-elect Donald Trump was a “fascist,” before removing the label following widespread criticism.
“Stop donating to Wokepedia until they restore balance to their editing authority,” Musk wrote on X.
The report revealed that Wikipedia budgeted $51.7 million for equity, safety, and inclusion, followed by $86.1 million for infrastructure and $39.2 million for effectiveness.
Musk offered to buy Wikipedia for $1 billion if it changed its name to Dickipedia.”
The suggestion came following an ongoing feud between Musk and Wikipedia over the website’s misinformation and leftwing bias.
Elon Musk and his DOGE co-head, Vivek Ramaswamy, are preparing a dramatic reduction in spending on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) projects,
DOGE recommended revoking executive acts related to DEI enacted by the Biden administration.
Musk referred to DEI as “just another word for racism” and asserted that “DEI must die.”
Ramaswamy also expressed his intentions to slash DEI initiatives on X;
“An efficient government has no place for DEI bloat. Time to DOGE it.”
