Sometimes, the phrase “the blind leading the blind” just doesn’t quite cut it. Sometimes, it’s more a matter of the clueless leading the clueless, or at least, the clueless commenting on or offering advice to the clueless; and, one has to admit, taking political advice from Jen Psaki is like taking culinary advice from Alfred Packer.

It’s cluelessness all the way down!

MSNBC host Jen Psaki scolded Democrats for missing a “big opportunity” to apply lessons they should have taken from their brutal 2024 election loss by passing over young, “media-savvy” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for the top Democratic spot on the House Oversight Committee.

“Instead, they chose Congressman Gerry Connolly, a much older member who was backed by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi,” the former Biden press secretary said during a recent broadcast of “Inside with Jen Psaki.”

Multiple choice question: The Democrats chose Gerry Connolly because he’s:

  1. Much less obnoxious
  2. Less of a leftist ideologue (bear in mind this is setting the bar really, really low)
  3. Is from a swing state (VA) or, at least, a state that may be slowly becoming a swing state
  4. Much less polarizing, partly because no one outside of VA-11 has ever heard of him
  5. All of the above.

Yes, you guessed it; the answer is 5. Jen Psaki wasn’t done yet:

“Why does that matter?” she continued. “This is one of the few committees in Congress that actually generates national attention or media coverage. Under Jamie Raskin, it became a critical platform for countering Republican misinformation. And while I have deep, deep respect for Speaker Pelosi… and nothing against Congressman Connolly at all, this felt like an obvious chance to apply some of the lessons we should’ve learned from the November election.

“Instead, Democrats passed over one of the youngest, most media-savvy members of Congress for a key public leadership role.”

Jamie Raskin? She’s holding up Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin as a paragon of Democrat political savvy? Really? The same Jamie Raskin who, only last summer, was advocating for an actual insurrection, even a civil war, to prevent Donald Trump from re-assuming the presidency, regardless of the outcome of the election? The same Democrat Jamie Raskin who wanted to destroy the electoral process and plunge the United States into open rebellion – because believe me, that’s what would happen – by arbitrarily overturning the will of the American people, who clearly and unambiguously wanted Donald Trump back in office?

Well, if that’s the model, it’s easy to see why Jen Psaki favors AOC for that role.

It turns out that Psaki wasn’t the only Democrat whining about this:

Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram called the appointment a “blow to the youth movement within the Democratic Party,” as the divide between young and old threatens to “drive a wedge” through the Democratic coalition.

Former Biden challenger Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., who will soon retire from Congress, has criticized the party for shirking off younger talent within the party in favor of preserving the old guard.

“It is time to elevate the best and brightest. We have literally kept them from ascending to leadership positions, which means they go elsewhere. And when we lose that kind of talent of ambitious, competent, patriotic young Americans, we’re in trouble,” he said.

Well, if it’s the best and the brightest they’re after, it’s easy to see why they chose someone (anyone) other than AOC.

The progressive wing of the Democrats, failing (still) to understand that they are the primary reason behind Democrat losses in this election, continue to operate under several misapprehensions. First, they still think that messaging, not the message, is the reason for their losses; they confuse noise for content; they mistake movement for purpose; and they mistake ideology for intelligence. They’ll keep losing elections until they figure that out.

Let’s hope they never get it.
