The family of a murdered South Carolina woman is shocked and angry over President Joe Biden granting clemency to death row inmates as he gets ready to exit the Oval Office.

The sentences of 37 out of 40 federal death row inmates were commuted by the lame-duck president who announced on Monday that those chosen would have their sentences converted to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Among the list of inmates was Brandon Council who was convicted of killing two bank employees, 59-year-old Donna Major and 36-year-old Katie Skeen, in 2017. Biden’s announcement came as a shock to Major’s family as they processed how “one man can make this decision.”

Heather Turner, the daughter of Donna Major, said her reaction to the news was “absolute anger.”

She told Fox News that she was gathering with family for the holidays when the call came to alert the family of the president’s announcement.

“I was angry,” she said on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday. “I’m still angry. I am upset that this is even happening. That one man can make this decision without even talking to the victims, without any regard for what we have been through, what we are going through.”

“I’m completely hurt, frustrated, and angry,” she added.

She went on to explain that the family wrote letters as soon as they heard there was a possibility that Major’s murderer would have his death row sentence commuted. She said an in-person meeting was refused and their voices were never heard.

Major’s husband said she was shown “no mercy” by her killer when he shot her and her co-worker at the bank in Conway that day. He is also incredulous at Biden’s decision.

“Joe Biden certainly has no convictions, He’s a senile old man. He couldn’t tie his shoes I wouldn’t think if you could see him in person,” he said. “It’s absolutely disgusting.”

Katie Jenkins, another daughter of the murdered woman, recalled sitting in court and having to watch images of her mother’s murder during the trial and said the family believed in the justice system that Biden has now upended.
