Jim Pillen, governor of Nebraska, was sent to the hospital on Sunday afternoon because he was involved in an accident I’d expect to see from an 1880’s governor.
He fell off of a buckin’ bronco.
The incident happened when the Republican leader was riding on horseback with family members.
Pillen’s office said that the horse was new and that he sustained injuries, but did not elaborate further.
I would be making jokes about Nebraska still, somehow, remaining the Wild West all these years later, but it honestly sounds like a pretty brutal accident for the former defensive back for the Cornhuskers.
Also, how many governors do you know of who tramp out on horseback with their family on a Sunday afternoon? He sounds like a pretty cool dude.
The governor is expected to remain hospitalized through the Christmas holiday.
‘Gov. Pillen and his family are very appreciative of the thoughts and prayers given to them by Nebraskans and they wish all Nebraskans a very merry Christmas,’ his office added in the statement.
Prayers up for Governor Pillen and his family!
