Man, I just love seeing stuff like this: Kirk Cousins not only stepping aside to watch rookie Michael Penix Jr. start in his place, but leading the young man in prayer before the game and giving him a nice little pep talk.
Cousins was brought in this year to lead a young Falcons offense, but without a playoff berth in reach, it was time to hand it over to the rookie.
And the University of Washington star did not disappoint.
Penix would go 18/27 (67%) for 202 yards and an interception that should’ve been a touchdown but was dropped.
His running back and his defense would score two touchdowns apiece, and the Falcons would win the game, 34-7.
After the game, Penix gave all the glory to God.
