The subculture of social media-obsessed deviants who will stoop to any low for a like or a share has objectively spiraled out of control. For a Mesa, Arizona Walmart, this meant having to dispose of nearly $1,000 worth of food after 27-year-old Charles Smith allegedly sprayed bug killer on it for a “troll.”

Court documents detailed how the suspect was said to have uploaded a video of himself swiping a can of bug spray from the shelves of the store before dousing produce like apples, bananas and lemons with the contents.

Within minutes, the court filing asserted, the suspect had returned with a cart to remove some of the items before pushing them into a truck, as if to suggest no harm had been done.

However, the documents detailed, “It should be noted that the time between when the defendant sprayed the items to when he placed them in the cart, left plenty of time for customers to take the contaminated items and purchase them.”

Not long after the incident, Smith, who also had an outstanding warrant with the Tempe Police, was said to have turned himself over to the authorities in Mesa voluntarily after being contacted and claimed that his videos made him between $6,000 and $10,000 per month.

“During the interview,” Mesa Police detailed, “Smith admitted to the theft and spraying of the pesticide.”

Other content produced by the self-described “SUPREME VILLAIN” showed him seemingly harassing people in various venues, including throwing raw bacon and eggs in with an elderly man’s clothes at a public laundromat, tossing things at people on a lower level at a mall, disrupting multiple eating establishments and even using bungee cords and bike locks to seal people inside buildings.

In the wake of the damages allegedly caused by the suspect, a Walmart spokesperson told 12 News, “The health and safety of our customers and associates is always a top priority. We have removed all directly impacted product and have cleaned and sanitized the affected area of the store. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers as we work to resolve this issue. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement during their investigation.”

Shoppers were none too impressed with the “troll” as one Ramon Soberanes told the outlet of the “disgusting” stunt, “This is where people shop for their families. It’s very possible that those bananas, a mom could have been grabbing some for her kids.”

The Mesa Police Department booked Smith into jail with a class 6 felony charge of Introducing Poison in addition to three Class 1 misdemeanor charges for one count each of criminal damage, endangerment and theft while reactions on social media called for harsher charges including terrorism.
