Patrick Mahomes is apparently not of this Earth.

Earlier this week, on Monday to be precise, Mahomes wasn’t certain he’d be able to play against the Houston Texans on Saturday because of a high ankle sprain. One that had him hobbling around the Kansas City training facility and on a schedule for full-time treatment.

Mahomes Scores Despite Bum Ankle

Well, the injury got progressively better as documented by OutKick on Friday. But what he did in Saturday’s first series against the Texans was, well, freakish.

Mahomes, his ankles heavily taped, scrambled out of the pocket on a 12-yard run.

And moments later he scrambled again, this time for 15 yards and a touchdown.

Injury Deniers Respond To Mahomes Score

Yes, it was the longest TD by Mahomes in his eight-year career.

By the end of the first quarter, Mahomes was the Chiefs leading rusher with two rushes for 27 yards.

And, of course, when all that hit social media – the long TD run, the fact Mahomes is even out there – the conspiracy theorists that have come to see lies upon lies in politics figured it’s the same in the NFL.

The Mahomes injury deniers came out in force on social media.

“lied about the injury.”

(Actually, the NFL closely monitors such things as part of its integrity of the game rules, so no he didn’t.)

“Mahomes is a drama queen.”

(Actually he’s a tough dude from Texas.)

…Or Maybe Mahomes Is Just Tough

And we get it: NFL fans whose team doesn’t have Patrick Mahomes, don’t want to believe Mahomes could be good at football and a durable players to boot.

So, envy away.

It is understandable to believe that Mahomes is playing with a fair amount of painkillers this game. That is quite possible.

And that would make Mahomes no different than a high percentage of players that will themselves into the lineup on game day in Week 16 of the season with the help of drugs.

But faking it? Embellishing?

Nope.

Just Patrick Mahomes being Patrick Mahomes.
