Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a purple-haired Democrat, is facing scrutiny and backlash for ranting about DOGE co-chair Elon Musk.
Thanks to intervention from Musk and President-elect Donald Trump, this week House Speaker Mike Johnson scrapped a bloated “continuing resolution” bill that looked a lot more like an omnibus from hell rather than a CR. The gigantic bill had even included a pay raise for Congress.
With Musk and Trump’s blessing, Johnson replaced the veritable omnibus with a much smaller, better-finetuned actual CR that would fund the government for three months, suspend the debt limit until January 2027, and provide $110 billion in disaster aid.

Johnson’s decision to replace the omnibus greatly pleased the GOP base but also enraged the Democrat Party, including DeLauro.
Yelling on the House floor this Thursday, DeLauro ranted and raved about Musk’s influence on the ongoing spending conflict.
“They got scared because President Musk told them, President Musk said don’t do it, shut the government down,” she ranted about Musk’s intervention vis-a-vis the omnibus. “Imagine, what does he know about what people go through when the government shuts down? Are his employees furloughed? Hell no! Is he furloughed? No!”
“And when you shut the government down, people don’t get paid. And maybe if none of us got paid if the government shut down, some people on the other side of the aisle would feel differently about where we’re going in this effort,” she added.

Responding to her rant, critics said she should sit this one out because her record clearly shows that her own priorities are all screwed up.
Case in point: Earlier this year DeLauro lobbied for the use of female crash test dummies for the sake of so-called “road equity.” No joke.
“This will start to fight the gender inequity among vehicle safety and crash victims,” she said in the stunning clip below.

Other critics argued that her style of ranting and raving will no longer work with the American people — not in the age of MAGA.
“Its almost comical that these people dont get it,” a critic tweeted. “The veil has been ripped off. Their fake speeches, fake rants, lies, and fake emotions to act like they care. These stunts dont work anymore. No one believes them.”
True.

How dare a private citizen speak out and expose the corruption of his government!?! Doesn’t he know we’re in charge?!?!

Elon Musk has brought the country together, given us a voice. The politicians are mad because they are losing control over us, their power is slipping away.

We the people go through nothing when it shuts down. Go home Rosa, we don’t need over-stuffed 1,500 page bills, we need common sense bills, and less spending.

What does he (Elon Musk) know. He knows you government thieves are stealing taxpayer money and padding your own pockets, eventually, through your boomerang bills…designed to put the sweet, sweet, money into your greedy hands…wow are they angry! They are being called out!

DeLauro does kinda have one ally in the GOP — Rep. Chip Roy, who has expressed deep displeasure with the new, non-bloated CR. The problem with it, he says, is that it’ll increase the debt limit.
“What we’re doing right now is to continue to double down on the things that are destroying the republic,” he complained in his own House floor speech Thursday. “We are going to increase the debt ceiling not just four trillion, that’s false. We have spent $4.7 trillion in additional debt in the last nineteen months. We’re gonna increase the debt by $5 trillion. That’s what’s gonna happen.”
“Right here, by Republicans, increasing the debt by $5 trillion, and what are you doing in the same bill? $110 billion unpaid for! Because you never have any ounce of self-respect to go out and campaign, saying you’re going to balance the budget, and then you come in here and pass $110 billion unpaid for!” he added.
