President Joe Biden returned unexpectedly to the White House on Thursday, canceling his planned Christmas holiday in Delaware. At the same time, Vice President Kamala Harris’ office announced that the vice president abruptly canceled her planned trip to California.
Video of Biden and Harris “returning” to the White House made the rounds online as speculation shot through the roof.
The news comes amid a number of crises, including a looming federal government shutdown, the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, and the outgoing Biden-Harris administration ramping up hostilities with Russia with the use of long-range missiles by Ukraine to strike deep within Russian territory. There’s also the Northeast awash with mysterious drones.

Biden canceled a planned Presidents Day holiday weekend at his home in Delaware back in February 2022, just before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Also happening Thursday, the House shot down a clean stop-gap funding bill after Elon Musk rallied forces to squash a 1,500-page monstrosity of a pork bill, with a heavy assist from President-elect Donald J. Trump.
Thirty-eight Republican lawmakers failed to support the stripped-down 116-page bill that included a demand from Trump to push the debt limit to Jan. 30, 2027. Congress has less than 24 hours to pass a temporary measure to keep federal agencies open.

The buzz about a White House “emergency” also comes after the Wall Street Journal dropped a disturbing investigative report about how the White House ran cover for President Biden operating under a diminished capacity for four years, keeping the public in the dark.
“To manage Biden’s limitations, White House aides controlled access, top advisers acted as go-betweens and public interactions became more scripted,” the WSJ noted.
A former national security official told the newspaper of Biden, “He has good days and bad days.”
One thing is certain, after the last four years under Biden trust in government is at all-time lows. There was plenty of speculation on social media about what could be happening, beginning with wild rumors of Biden potentially resigning to allow for the first female president — who could then grant him an unconditional pardon.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:

Are they going to try to sneak in a quick Kamala presidency in the next 30 days just so Trump has to reprint his hats?

Many have speculated that Biden will resign in order to give Kamala a few weeks of presidency.
It could be that or just the looming shutdown.
If I had to guess I’d say the latter.

Either Kamala is going to play President for 30 days, or we just went to war. Neither is good.
