Senator Rand Paul has suggested that Elon Musk be named the new Speaker of the House to replace Rep. Mike Johnson.

The Kentucky politician made the suggestion in a Thursday morning post on X.

“The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress . . .” Sen. Paul began.

“Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk . . . think about it . . . nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds),” the post concluded.

Musk and many others have been blasting Johnson for the wasteful spending bill introduced on Tuesday evening.

President-elect Donald Trump has already selected Musk to co-lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (or “DOGE”) with former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Musk had not responded to the senator’s suggestion as of 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.
