Russian President Vladimir Putin held today (19) his traditional year-end Q&A that was broadcast live all over the world.

It was a 3-hour-plus where Putin answered questions from Russian citizens and press, and also from openly hostile MSM reporters.

He spoke a lot about Russian policy and World geopolitics, but everything was sort of pushed to the background after the Russian leader, while talking about the new hypersonic ballistic missile Oreshnik (Hazel), repeated his earlier assertion that no missile defense systems from US or NATO can intercept the new weapon – and he shocked the world when he suggested a direct ‘test’ of the Oreshnik’s capabilities – what he called a ‘duel’.

Reuters reported:

“Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday suggested a missile ‘duel’ with the United States that would show how Russia’s new Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile could defeat any U.S. missile defense system.”

Watch: Putin – ‘Let’s conduct an experiment. They can gather all their air defense in Kyiv in one place, and we will hit them with the Oreshnik! Let’s see what happens and if they can shoot it down!’

Watch: The November ‘Mach 10’ hypersonic Oreshnik attack against Ukraine’s Dnipro.

While Putin was addressing Western skepticism about the new Oreshnik, he suggested that both sides select a designated target to be protected by U.S. missiles and air defense systems.

Slavyangrad reported:

“We’re ready for such an experiment,” Putin said.

Putin also stated that the technological duel can be held anywhere.

“Reporter: Are we right now ready for a duel?

Putin: We are ready right now. Right today.

Reporter: Why in Kiev?

Putin: Please, we can do it elsewhere. It’s just that in Kiev, in my opinion, according to what I know, there is a fairly serious air defense system organized there by Western countries. Let them turn on everything they have, including the missile defense system, these anti-missiles that are on alert in Romania and Poland, there are 24 of them there and there.”

Watch: Pution doubles down.
