Once again, Congress – a GOP-led Congress, mind you – tried to pull a fast one on the American people. This time, it didn’t work.

Thanks to pressure from Elon Musk and President Trump, Speaker Johnson was forced to kill the 1,500-page continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government.

Instead of being thankful, this was met with predictable lamentations from Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. He accused Republicans of orchestrating a government shutdown and hurting the working class.

The bill was not just a simple funding package; it was laden with what many conservatives considered to be excessive spending, special interest giveaways, and provisions friendly to the J6 Committee. These were all points of contention for those advocating for government efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

“House Republicans have now unilaterally decided to break a bipartisan agreement that they made. House Republicans have been ordered to shut down the government and hurt everyday Americans all across this country,” Jeffries (D-NY) claimed without evidence.

“An agreement is an agreement. It was bipartisan, and there was nothing more to say.”

Jeffries seems under the impression that the word ‘bipartisan’ means something is infallible. We regret to inform him that a bad CR, regardless of which politicians support it, is a bad CR.

It was rightly killed.

Elon Musk Fires Back At Hakeem Jeffries

Enter Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur who has become a vocal critic of government inefficiencies and has recently taken up the mantle of co-chair of Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Jeffries posted his remarks to X, and Musk teed off on him. Elon’s response to Jeffries’ complaints was both succinct and scathing.

“You seem to think the public is dumb. They are not.” he wrote.

That’s the entire Democrat Party in a nutshell when you think about it. Not to mention the Republicans who have repeatedly gone along with this wasteful spending game to line their own pockets time and time again.

That era, my friends, seems to be over.

Good Day For America

Musk’s remarks not only highlighted the public’s increasing awareness and scrutiny of political maneuvers but also underscored the growing sentiment against the status quo of Washington spending.

His involvement, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, signifies a bold attempt to inject some level of accountability and transparency into government operations, a move that resonates with many who are tired of the business-as-usual approach to government funding but lack the power to do anything about it.

Musk’s repeated bashing of the CR on X helped raise the outrage level amongst conservatives and sparked a furious backlash that Republican lawmakers could no longer ignore.

President-elect Donald Trump also made it clear he opposed the CR with a post on Truth Social.

“Sounds like the ridiculous and extraordinarily expensive Continuing Resolution, PLUS, is dying fast, but can anyone imagine passing it without either terminating, or extending, the Debt Ceiling guillotine coming up in June?” said Trump.

“Unless the Democrats terminate or substantially extend [the] Debt Ceiling now, I will fight ‘till the end. This is a nasty TRAP set in place by the Radical Left Democrats!”

In a separate post on X, Elon Musk again alluded to the fact that the American people are too smart for what Hakeem Jeffries and Big Government Republicans are selling.

“The voice of the people was heard,” he said. “This was a good day for America.”
