The humiliation of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) by her own party was so complete that even President-elect Donald J. Trump seemed to feel bad for her.
In a blow to the progressive diva’s immense ego, her bid to become the top Democrat on the powerful House Oversight Committee went down in flames when party members instead voted to elect Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), a 74-year-old cancer-stricken Ukraine zealot who had the backing of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
AOC came up on the short end of the secret ballot vote 131-84, a rejection of the New York City drama queen who could have used the position as a springboard for a 2028 White House run.
In a Wednesday post to Truth Social, Trump offered some words of either encouragement or sarcasm.
“Really too bad that AOC lost the Battle for the Leadership Seat in the Democrat Party,” he wrote. “She should keep trying. Someday, she will be successful!”
That prompted a response from the loser who shared Trump’s post on X, writing, “Damn you know it’s bad when even Trump is feeling bad for me,” along with a laughing emoji.

Trump’s post came the day after House Democrats once again declined to pass the torch to the younger generation by elevating Connolly over the 35-year-old socialist firebrand and media darling who has been one of the most high-profile members of Congress since the former bartender exploded onto the political scene six years ago.
“Tried my best. Sorry I couldn’t pull it through everyone — we live to fight another day,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on the left-wing social media crying room Bluesky after her crushing loss.
“I thank my colleagues for their support and the confidence they’ve placed in me to lead House Democrats on the Oversight Committee,” said Connolly, who recently announced that he’d been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus.
While he may lack the over-the-top theatrical flair that AOC brings to the table, the veteran lawmaker is a fulminating left-wing lunatic in his own right, having declared that the “Ukrainian-Russian border is OUR border!” on the House floor back in April and vowing to wage “trench warfare” against the incoming president.
“This will be trench warfare. Now is not the time to be timid. I promise the American people that our Committee Democrats will be a beacon of truth and prepared from day one to counter Republican gaslighting. We will be disciplined. We will be laser-focused on getting results on the kitchen table issues that affect the American people the most. We will stand up for our democracy and for truth. And we will protect the tremendous and historic progress we have made as House Democrats,” Connolly said in a statement after winning the vote.
The newly crowned ranking member came out of the gates like he was shot from a cannon,
Elon Musk and Donald Trump have ordered House Republicans to shut down the government, and they are on the verge of following through. Astonishing cowardice and ineptitude at the expense of the American people.

“Elon Musk and Donald Trump have ordered House Republicans to shut down the government, and they are on the verge of following through. Astonishing cowardice and ineptitude at the expense of the American people,” he wrote of Trump and Musk’s reaction to the obscene pork-stuffed monstrosity wrapped around what should have been a simple bill to keep the government open.
Connolly’s win came with a big assist from Pelosi who is currently recuperating from a broken hip suffered during a nasty fall last week in Europe, she was reportedly whipping votes against AOC behind the scenes.
