A high school high school math teacher assigned a “coming out” exercise to her students and parents are speaking out, as this is deeply deranged.
According to NBC San Diego:
A high school math teacher in Vista is at the center of controversy because of a diversity, equity and inclusion exercise.
Last week, some Rancho Buena Vista freshmen participating in an elective seminar class were given the following instructions: “Stand in a circle. Each of you is now gay or lesbian, and you are about to begin your coming out process. You cannot talk for the rest of this activity.”
This assignment is deeply inappropriate no matter the class but it’s even more bizarre that it was assigned by a math teacher. However, it’s unclear what “elective seminar class” this was or why the instructor was so concerned with students who may or may not need assistance in coming out to their parents.
Back in my day, which was not even that long ago, this was called “grooming.” And that is exactly what one based dad informed the school board.
“It does not do anything other than groom them.”
As the dad said, it’s unclear how this is part of the curriculum, as students used to be taught math in math class. However, given that math is now racist, this is the best the district can do. And to say this is pathetic would be an understatement.
The school is meant to educate students, not indoctrinate them based on sexual preferences. We never had a straight elective seminar and thus, this is also unnecessary.
