The Senate on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved the $895 billion National Defense Authorization Act to fund the Pentagon.

The 85-14 vote came despite the inclusion of a provision that barred Tricare, the military’s healthcare provider, from covering trans-related treatments for minors who are children of military service members, The Hill reported.

The House approved the legislation last week in a 281-140 vote, with mostly Democrats opposing it.

“This legislation includes House-passed provisions to restore our focus on military lethality and to end the radical woke ideology being imposed on our military by permanently banning transgender medical treatment for minors and countering antisemitism,” Johnson said at the time.
