MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle is praising President-elect Donald Trump for being directly reachable by reporters during the election, whereas Democratic contender Vice President Kamala Harris spent a lot of time dodging and hiding.
One of Ruhle’s personal stories was told during an interview with Lukas Thimm for his late-night talk show “So Many Issues.”
During part of the election discussion, Ruhle disclosed that she could contact Trump directly to ask for an interview and comment after his October event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“I rolled the dice and I called him on the phone and he answered… I wasn’t calling to chit-chat. I said, ‘Mr. President, this is Stephanie Ruhle, you made a lot of comments last night,’ blah-blah-blah. It was not an on-the-record conversation, so I’m not going to get into what he said,” Ruhle said.
“But I called for one reason. I said, ‘You just said a whole bunch of public things. I’d like to sit down for an interview with you. We’ve got five days before the election.’ So we didn’t get anything, there’s nothing for me to report. I called, I said I want an interview. Obviously, he said no,” Ruhle added.
Ruhle went on to describe the access to Trump with the complicated nature of reaching out to Harris or President Joe Biden.
“But my point is, I was able to get to him by dialing his phone. Now that might be completely apeshit and you’re like, ‘I can’t believe people know this guy’s phone number,’ but the reverse of that, if I were to want to connect with VP Harris or President Biden, there’s 50 people between me and that. I could write a note that maybe could get to somebody to get somebody, then through Pony Express and a pigeon something might end up in a mailbox near them,” Rugle said.
“And I called DJT to say, ‘Yo, can I get an interview?’ And he told me to go f*ck myself, but I still was able to connect with him,” Ruhle jokingly added.
Trump may not have said those same words with Ruhle, but her story seemed to appeal to a devoted audience who chuckled at her probably exaggerated remarks.

President-elect Donald Trump made headlines on Monday when he announced a $100 billion investment in the United States by SoftBank.
Speaking from Mar-a-Lago, the 47th president spoke alongside SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son, where they announced SoftBank’s plans to invest $100 billion in the United States over the next four years.
Masayoshi Son said his “confidence level” in the US economy has “tremendously increased with [Trump’s] victory,” adding, “Because of that – I am committing $100 billion and 100,000 jobs into the United States. This is double of last time… because President Trump is a double-down president.”
Trump said the investment was evidence of “monumental confidence in America’s future.” He playfully encouraged Son to invest $200 billion. Son chuckled and said that he would try.
Trump called Son “one of the most accomplished business leaders of our time.”
“The $100 billion pledge, made at a flag-bedecked event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, fits in with Trump’s vow to bolster the U.S. economy and reduce the impact of inflation on Americans during his second term, which begins on Jan. 20,” Reuters reported.
