Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg just wrapped up a news conference Tuesday afternoon, and he announced that his office will be charging alleged CEO killer Luigi Mangione with one count of first-degree murder in furtherance of terrorism.

His office released a statement:

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., and New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch today announced the indictment of LUIGI MANGIONE, 26, for the murder of 50-year-old United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside of the Hilton Hotel in Midtown on December 4, 2024. MANGIONE is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count of Murder in the First Degree, in furtherance of terrorism; two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, one of which is charged as killing as an act of terrorism; two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree; four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree; one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree; and one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree.

As we have reported, Mangione allegedly gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan on December 4. Mangione eluded authorities for several days but was finally nabbed at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

The tragic murder set off a disgusting response from many leftists who lauded Mangione and indicated that it was just fine to shoot an insurance executive because many are not happy with their coverage. Sick stuff. Plus, it turns out the Mangione wasn’t even covered by UnitedHealthcare.

Mangione is still in PA but is expected to be extradited to New York in due course:

In Pennsylvania, where Mangione remains in custody, he faces charges including allegedly possessing an untraceable ghost gun.

He is expected to waive extradition from Pennsylvania during his next court appearance at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Mangione has hired Karen Friedman Agnifilo as his lawyer in New York. She was a 25-year veteran of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and its second in command for eight years.

Bragg is coming off his loss in the Danial Penny case, which also sharply divided opinion. That case should never have been brought, but Bragg should bring whatever he’s got to serve justice in this disturbing case.
