Multiple schools in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) in Wisconsin were swatted on Tuesday, one day after a deadly mass shooting resulted in the deaths of three people, including the alleged shooter, and injured several others.

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes on Monday identified 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by the name of Samantha, as the suspected shooter. Rupnow allegedly killed herself and two other people, a teacher and a student, in the shooting and injured seven others.

The shooting occurred inside of a single classroom at the Abundant Life Christian School at just before 11 a.m. local time.

Barnes on Tuesday said law enforcement officers do not believe there is a current threat at the other schools, CNN reported.

“Today numerous MMSD schools were targeted by false threats often known as swatting,” Barnes said during a press conference. “We’re working closely with the Madison Metropolitan School District to determine where these originated and to investigate this call. We do not believe that there are any current threats to any Madison-area schools and will continue to investigate these calls and any threats of violence as they come in.”

Barnes said the focus of the investigation is now on finding the motive for the shooting, which appeared to target the school in general instead of specific people, but said it appears there were multiple factors in the motive.

“We’re asking anyone who knew her or who may have insights into her feelings leading up to yesterday to please contact the Madison Area Crime Stoppers,” the police chief said. “But at this time, it appears that the motive was a combination of factors.”

The law enforcement official also corrected a note from Monday’s press conference, which claimed the person who placed the 911 call was a second grader. Barnes said that was incorrect, and it was a second grade teacher instead.
