Of all the theories posed on increased unexplained drone sightings, Joe Rogan pointed to the one subject matter expert that had him “genuinely concerned.”

In recent days, attempts by officials from President Joe Biden’s administration to allay concerns have only raised more questions with many wondering as to whether the government was incompetent or gaslighting the public. Sunday, Rogan shared a video from a drone manufacturer who posited a theory involving detection equipment and Cold War-era nuclear warheads.

“This is the first video about these drones that has got me genuinely concerned,” said the popular podcast host in sharing the video from John Ferguson, founder and CEO of Saxon Unmanned, a custom remote aircraft manufacturer.

Having amassed more than 17 million views via Rogan alone in less than a day’s time, Ferguson explained why it was his belief that the drones are “trying to smell something on the ground — gas leaks, radioactive material, whatever.”

The drone manufacturer, a military veteran, neither ruled out nor zeroed in on “nefarious” reasons as he reminded that there were a number of Ukrainian warheads that were unaccounted for following acceptance of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons indicating, “The only reason why you would ever fly an unmanned aircraft at night is if you’re looking for something.”

Other than that, the only other reason would be “to piss a bunch of people off at night.”

“So if you think this is bullsh*t, whatever, that’s cool. I don’t want to spread misinformation, as we know that there’s a lot of that going around,” Ferguson had said.

Only days earlier, in response to White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby’s press briefing on the drone sightings, Rogan had said, “This is what the kids call ‘sus,’” and added, “I want to believe it’s Adderalled-up incels holed up in a basement f*cking with ‘the man’ more than I want it to be aliens.”

Over the weekend, intelligence officials had asserted public reaction had been a “slight overreaction” while insisting that they still didn’t know the source for the drone activity that had spread across the East Coast to states around the country.

This included Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas who joined ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday and faulted updated rules from the government while calling for expanded authorities.

“In September of 2023, the Federal Aviation Administration, the FAA, changed the rules so that drones could fly at night,” he told host George Stephanopoulos. “And that may be one of the reasons why now people are seeing more drones than they did before, especially from dawn to dusk.”

To contend with the drones, he pushed for a new law that would allow the government to, in part, “incapacitate” them.

Similarly, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) who’d had to contend with flights temporarily grounded at an airport due to the drone activity, thanked the government for additional resources while pressing for the passage of a new law.

“In response to my calls for additional resources, our federal partners are deploying a state-of-the-art drone detection system to New York State,” she said in a statement. “This system will support state and federal law enforcement in their investigations. We are grateful to the Biden Administration for their support, but ultimately we need further assistance from Congress. Passing the Counter-UAS (unmanned aerial systems) Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act will give New York and our peers the authority and resources required to respond to circumstances like we face today.”

In addition to providing authority for destruction, the bill, if passed, would allow the government to “Seize, exercise control of, or otherwise confiscate an unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft.”

Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressed favor for expanding government authorities and an expanded surveillance state as he posted to X, “I’m pushing for answers amid these drone sightings. I’m calling for @SecMayorkas to deploy special drone-detection tech across NY and NJ. And I’m working to pass a bill in the Senate to give local law enforcement more tools for drone detection.”

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) reposted the senator’s statement as he himself shared that he was meeting with FBI officials on the drone activity.
