Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi successfully underwent hip replacement surgery after a nasty fall and there wasn’t exactly an outpouring of sympathy from X users over her accident.

On Friday the news broke that the 84-year-old tripped and fell on a flight of marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg on a congressional junket to commemorate the 80-year-anniversary of the WW II Battle of the Bulge which took place four years after she was born.

The first to report that the Democrat grande dame had taken an old folks spill was the New York Times and on Saturday, her spox confirmed that she had indeed fractured the hip and that surgery had already taken place.

“Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend,” said spokesman Ian Krager in a statement. “Speaker Pelosi is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.”

While the Democrat fan club in the mainstream media clucked with condolences, the real media on X wasn’t quite as kind after it was first reported that the elderly Democrat was injured.

Pelosi is the second octogenarian member of Congress to go down this week. Former Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) fell during a GOP luncheon and while he didn’t suffer injuries to the extent that Pelosi did with her broken hip, it was a part of an ongoing pattern with the Trump hating obstructionist who missed time last year when he face-planted at a private D.C. party.
