At least one person was killed in a fatal helicopter crash on Monday that occurred in a community outside of San Diego, California, near the U.S. border with Mexico.
The helicopter is believed to be an Airbus, but it is not clear who operated the aircraft, according to KTLA-5. At least one person sustained significant injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to California Fire. The identity of the individual and their gender has not been disclosed so far.
The U.S. Border Patrol has taken the lead on investigating the case, according to local media.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have also been notified to launch an investigation into the incident. The incident marks the second helicopter crash in San Diego County this year, the first occurred in February and killed five Marines.
