Bluesky may have gained its foamiest mouthed, self-deporting, social media screed-slinger yet as an announced “weaning” from X brought added mockery.
In the theater of the internet, announcements for exiting a social media platform have become a joke unto themselves as the virtue signaling statement was oftentimes meaningless. So, when Keith Olbermann served up his rendition which appeared to try to exploit a loophole, it wasn’t long before the ratio added up.
“If like me you’re migrating to, uh, bluer pastures, find me there under just OLBERMANN,” the former MSNBC host had posted Saturday morning. “I am weaning myself away from this place by unfollowing my favorite reads and following you over there, so please take no other offense other than at [Elon] Musk.”
With nearly 2 million views in little over 24 hours since his posting the drawn out goodbye, it was noted by Libs of TikTok later the same day, “Keith Olbermann has already posted 3 times since announcing just 11 hours ago that he’s leaving X…He just can’t quit!”

Included in some of the reactions to the quasi-departure that left the door unlocked and the porch light on at X, a number of users had pointed out the reported prevalence of unsavory characters on Bluesky, such as pedophile apologists, in the latest leftist utopian echo chamber that frowned on selective expressions of free speech.
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” -Proverbs 28:1
See ya later, Keith.

I think blue sky is fantastic! We need to think of it more as a containment vessel for crazy than a competitor to the X platform.

Prior to his impartial exit, Olbermann had interspersed his routine sports commentary with ravings on President-elect Donald Trump.
The latest gripe followed the GOP leader’s proposal to do away with the semiannual clock adjustment to which Trump had said, “The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation.”
“Trump is such an idiot,” reacted Olbermann. “The push is to make daylight savings permanent…He has it — as always — WRONG.”
While the issue had long proven contentious with disparate arguments over which time variation was the least detrimental, the commentator’s take invited a dogpile against him adding further credence to the take on his X departure, “Translation: you’re tired of getting your a** handed to you on this platform, so you’re going someplace where there’s less resistance and more PDF files. Got it. Don’t let the door catch you in the a** on the way out.”
It’s so amazing watching your TDS

Translation: you’re tired of getting your ass handed to you on this platform, so you’re going someplace where there’s less resistance and more PDF files.
Got it.
Don’t let the door catch you in the ass on the way out.

As others reminded how balanced X had become since Elon Musk had purchased Twitter and rebranded the platform, Olbermann’s flight to a “safe space” where he’d be less likely to run up against challenges to his frequently unhinged outbursts was fully expected to be as short lived as any other announced parting from the increasingly influential virtual town square.
X is where everything’s happening, so there’s no way he can stay away for good.
