Alexander Smirnov, an ex-FBI informant, pled guilty to fabricating criminal allegations against President Biden and his son Hunter, according to federal court filing released on Thursday.

Special counsel David Weiss indicted Smirnov, of California, in February. The president pardoned his son earlier this month.

Weiss was appointed to investigate Biden’s son Hunter. President Biden wound up pardoning him.

Smirnov reportedly told the FBI handler in 2020 that Biden and his son accepted $5 million from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma several years prior. According to the court filing, the turned out to be false, “as the Defendant knew.”
