You would never know it by reading the news, but there are still sane Democrats.

Not every Democrat is applauding a murderer who shoots innocent people in the back, and not every Democrat wishes that Jews lay down their arms and meekly submit to mass murder, but that seems to be where all the passion is in the Democrat Party.

I hesitate to tar vast swathes of people with a broad brush because it is neither fair nor helpful. Many people are persuadable over the longer term, and shouting at them doesn’t do any good. But for every Josh Shapiro or John Fetterman–decent people with whom I have policy differences–there seem to be at least one and often two loud psychopaths who spend their days talking about sterilizing children, murdering people in health care, and abandoning Jews to the tender mercies of Hamas.

The latest outrage is 77 House Democrats calling for an arms embargo on Israel.

I can respect people who look at the situation in the Middle East and wish that the violence would stop. I even understand the argument–although I disagree–that Israel has accomplished enough of its goals to conclude that the deaths of innocents is too high a price to pay for ultimate success.

These sentiments make sense if you were inclined to accept that the propaganda being fed to us by the UN and Hamas was remotely reflective of reality.

But honestly, that is not what is going on here. Many of these representatives have been agitating against Israel all along, supporting boycott and divestment movements and siding with terrorists who are determined to destroy Israel. They view Israel in the way they view healthcare executives–It’s “wrong” to kill them, but certainly, you can understand why people would. Right?

Uh, no. If you are for the terrorist, you are the bad guy. And these are bad guys.

If you read the letter sent by these Congressmen to Anthony Blinken and Lloyd Austin, the fate of the hostages is acknowledged but dismissed as irrelevant to whether Israel should be fighting. If Hamas would surrender and lay down their arms, the war would be over, so calling for an arms embargo is equivalent to siding with Hamas.

Hamas remains the nominal government of Gaza, and Israel is at war with Hamas. Until Hamas is defeated and disarmed, the war will continue. And if Hamas is not defeated and disarmed, they win the war. Ask them–they will tell you the same thing. Hamas will rebuild if not destroyed.

So, demanding an arms embargo on Israel is demanding the US side with Hamas.

A huge swathe of the Democrat Party, and right now its animating force, is 100% behind the bad guys.
