It’s a tale as old as … well, about 20 years or so.
Dad gets mad at deadbeat son, tells him to get a job, get out of the house, make some real friends. But this time, unfortunately, things take a really awful turn.
That guy … I don’t want to assume anything, but he looks like he could stand to get out of the basement now and then.
That’s all I’m saying!
Joseph Voigt, 23, was taken into custody Sunday morning after fleeing his family home, where he allegedly gunned down his father and grievously wounded his mother after his old man was ‘riding his a – ‘ about getting a job, according to Fox 13 News.
Susan Voigt, 58, called police on Saturday night, reporting that her son Joseph had shot her multiple times — including one shot in the head — and killed her husband, Marvin, in Polk County, Florida.
Marvin, 63, was found lying dead in the driveway by arriving Bartow Police officers. Susan was found sitting on the couch, bleeding from several gunshot wounds, including a single wound to the head, according to the outlet.
Chalk one up for the “video games lead to violence” camp. You’ve got to hand them one here, don’t you?
How messed up would you have to be to try to kill both of your parents, as an adult, because they wanted you to get out of the house and get a job? It’s beyond tragic how far gone this young man appears to be.
Joseph has had run-ins with the law in the past. In 2023 he was the subject of an incident where he went into a neighborhood and fired 15 shots into the ground for no reason.
Yeah, uhh, that’s a crime.
He also reportedly maced a couple of people in an Orlando neighborhood when they asked him what he was doing hanging around there.
Despite this, police didn’t think he was violent enough to commit murder.
‘There were no signs that would lead you to believe this would occur from this gentleman, I would say. At least I don’t see any from past behavior,’ Bartow Police Chief Steve Walker said, according to WFLA.
‘I’ve heard about the victims, they’re really good people,’ Walker added. ‘It’s senseless. You scratch your head and wonder why something like this happens.’
It seems like he’s allegedly unstable and violent any of the few times he gets out of the house.
Consider this your regular reminder to take time, breathe the fresh air, and touch some grass every now and then.
