Close observers can tell that alleged President Biden is on his way out the door some time soon. He’s letting his forehead go to hell, as one can see in the video (below) of his statement yesterday afternoon on developments in Syria. He appears to have abandoned the Botox injections now that his exit from the White House is imminent, though it cannot come soon enough.
In his statement Biden claimed credit for the fall of Assad over the weekend. As the AP puts it: “Biden credited action by the U.S. and its allies for weakening Syria’s backers — Russia, Iran and Hezbollah. He said ‘for the first time’ that they could no longer defend Assad’s grip on power.”
This is laughable. Anyone who has followed events in the Middle East ever since President Obama turned Syria over to Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah will find that Biden’s statement raises the traditional question: Shall we wake the president?
Presidential historian Tevi Troy wrote the 2016 book of that title with the subtitle: Two Centuries of Disaster Management from the Oval Office. What is to do be done when the president himself is the disaster? That is the question here.
