Ronald Reagan nailed it many years ago when he said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help.”
Today, we have the government dictating what kind of shower head we can use and the water flow rate of our toilets, not to mention the light bulbs we use — it almost requires an engineering degree to figure out what kind of bulb to purchase to equal a standard everyday light bulb of yesteryear.
It’s on this note that Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) asked followers on X if they’d like to see a return to saner times in America.
He posted on Sunday, “Who else would like once again to be able to buy ‘real’ light bulbs, showerheads, and household appliances—i.e., these products as they existed before federal bureaucrats ruined them by forcing manufacturers to comply with rigid energy- and water-efficiency standards?”

As it stands, unelected federal bureaucrats circumvent Congress and laws, exercising vast powers to control our lives through regulations. Bureaucrats who often drink from the New Green Energy well endeavoring to torment us for our own good.
All of which brings to mind another quote from C.S. Lewis: “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
