Every day this story takes a wilder turn.

If you missed it over the weekend, the NYPD found the backpack that belongs to the assassin of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Central Park.

Far from giving any immediate clues to the unknown killer’s identity or whereabouts, the bag was stuffed with Monopoly money as an apparent message.

From Sky News:

Two knowledgeable sources told NBC News, Sky News’ US partner, that the fake bank notes were discovered in the bag, which police found in Central Park after Mr Thompson was killed on Wednesday.

Other sources familiar with the case told NBC a jacket was found inside the bag, but it is unclear if it is the one worn at time of the shooting.

Speaking of jackets, the photos that the NYPD and FBI have released show a masked man in three separate coats.

The FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for information.

Authorities might be playing their cards close to their chests, but that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

Police were seen Saturday searching a pond in Central Park because the murder weapon has yet to be located.

Meanwhile, New Yorkers are cosplaying as the assassin (the nickname “Claims Adjuster” has been going around), treating him as some comic-book villain unleashing poetic vengeance through an “artistic” murder.

I’ve had to wade through posts like these for days now:

To those who consider this Riddler to be a hero, riddle me this:

If you agree with the literal satanists…

Are you on the side of good or evil?

The same mind virus that caused people to turn into inhuman ghouls during the pandemic is causing people to celebrate murder.

Be careful that you don’t catch this mind virus.
