Kindergartners were left in critical condition as their recently released attacker allegedly targeted their Christian school over claims of “America’s involvement with genocide…”
Wednesday in Oroville, California, 56-year-old Glenn Litton set out to commit “child execution[s]” per a manifesto attributed to him, over Israel’s counteroffensive to Islamist terrorist attacks on their country.
Having reportedly made plans to visit another school, an investigation from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office detailed how the attempted murderer had left two kindergartners in critical condition before turning the gun on himself over the Jewish state’s response to Gaza and beyond.
“Countermeasures involving child execution has now been imposed at the Seventh Day Adventist school in California, United States by the International Alliance. I, Lieutenant Glenn Litton of the Alliance, carried out the countermeasures in necessitated response to America’s involvement with genocide and oppression of Palestinians along with attacks towards Yemen,” Litton was said to have written.
According to the sheriff’s office, Litton arrived at the Feather River Adventist School shortly after Noon where he met with staff under the alias Michael Sanders with the supposed intent of enrolling a child there. After the tour, he was said to have walked to the bathroom at which point gunfire and screaming were heard.
Along with the self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound, six-year-old Roman Mendez and five-year-old Elias Wolford were both left in critical condition with two and one gunshot respectively.
“They have a long road ahead of them. The fact that they are currently still with us is a miracle,” said Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea.
As it happened, Litton’s lengthy criminal record and history of mental health problems placed his first prison sentence for theft back in 1991 with convictions for theft, fraud and forgery over the next two decades.
Litton had been arrested as recently as Nov. 12, 2024, after reportedly renting a U-Haul-owned Chevrolet Silverado and failing to return it, leading to a stolen vehicle report.
In addition to the “embezzled leased or rented vehicle” charge, Litton also faced charges for alleged possession of a fake ID on top of his outstanding warrant. Having pled not guilty on Nov. 21, Litton was released on his own recognizance less than two weeks prior to Wednesday’s tragedy.
Having himself attended Paradise Adventist School as a child, Litton had also made an appointment under his “Michael Sanders” alias to tour the Red Bluff Seventh-Day Adventist School that day.
Reacting to the details of the purported manifesto, Macdonald-Laurier Institute senior fellow Casey Babb shared images of the victims and wrote, “This is what ‘Globalize the Intifada’ looks like. Conspiratorial, antisemitic, hate-filled carnage. We keep saying this madness never ends with the Jews, and this is precisely what we mean by that. Pray for these boys.”
These boys are Roman Mendez, age 6, and Elias Wolford, age 5. They were shot at a California kindergarten on Wednesday. Both are in critical condition.

After leading his state to stricter gun laws and soft-on-crime policies, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) reacted to the tragedy with a focus on the tool used in the heinous act instead of the alleged motivations.
“Heartbreaking. Once again, a community is shattered by senseless gun violence. Our hearts are with the children, their families, and everyone impacted by this horrific tragedy. To the survivors of gun violence: You are never alone. California stands with you.”
