For Democrats in California, the big lesson of the 2024 election is very clearly: Double down.

Just witness the request from Gov. Gavin Newsom — the alpha dog, for now, among potential Dem ‘28 contenders — for $25 million from the state Legislature to fund anti-Trump lawsuits.

Those are almost certainly to be aimed at President-elect Donald Trump’s coming immigration policies and rollback of woke federal nonsense.

The move is nothing more than an early campaign tactic.

When are these people going to learn?

Trump just delivered the most convincing GOP victory in a generation, winning all seven swing states plus the popular vote and helping put the Senate into Republican hands.

He was able to do that because, for the last four years, Dems have gone all-in on open borders, laws that help criminals, drunken-sailor spending that jet-fueled inflation and toxic racial and gender ideologies that divide Americans from their friends and neighbors.

Voters had swallowed enough, especially on the border and the economy.

And they rightly said No, thanks to the utterly vacant Kamala Harris and her mishmash of the same old lefty absurdity.

The Not-So-Golden State, where Harris and countless other weirdos have gotten their start, is the epicenter of the bad ideas pushing the Dems into electoral irrelevance.

So you’d think that maybe, just maybe, the electeds in charge of this Wuhan of Wokeness might be doing a little soul-searching.

Bzzzzzt!

Newsom is going all-in on the Trump Derangement Syndrome that drove his party off a cliff in November as the launching pad for White House run.

Insane, endless Trump-hate was all the Biden administration had, and it turned out to be totally self-destructive.

Worse, Newsom — for one brief moment — seemed like he was getting it.

In mid-November, he admitted on a podcast of his party’s delusional state, “Everything’s a bubble. And so you don’t really have a sense of what’s real and what’s not.”

But apparently he’s got nothing else to offer, so he’s back to playing the TDS hits and acting like California — crime-ridden, money-wasting, overregulated California — is somehow still the shining model for the future of the nation.

Yes, that’s the state now synonymous with all the worst, stupidest excesses of contemporary leftist politics on immigration, homelessness, energy and everything else.

Some Democrats realize the party needs a course-correction, but Gavin’s plainly betting he can ride this wave another four years.

How many more humiliating election cycles will it take to wake Newsom and his fellow progressives all the way up?
