Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Friday officially launched her bid to serve as ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.

“I write to you today to seek your support to serve as Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability in the 119th Congress,” she wrote in a letter to her colleagues. “This is not a position I seek lightly.”

“The responsibility of leading Democrats on the House Oversight Committee during Donald Trump’s second term in the White House is a profound and consequential one. Now, more than ever, we must focus on the Committee’s strong history of both holding administrations accountable and taking on the economic precarity and inequality that is challenging the American way of life,” she added.

She went on to trash-talk her Republican colleagues, accusing them of using “chaos to confuse, disorient, and distract the public’s attention away from their disastrous agenda.”

A “disastrous agenda” that a plurality of the American people just voted for, FYI.

“We cannot and will not allow that to happen. I will lead by example by always keeping the lives of everyday Americans at the center of our work,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

That’s certainly not what she did in 2019 when she single-handedly ruined a deal between New York City and Amazon, costing the city a whopping 25,000 jobs.

Then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called it a “lost economic opportunity” and blamed “a small group [of] politicians [who] put their own narrow political interests above their community.”

As previously reported, Ocasio-Cortez faces plenty of competition, including from Rep. Gerry Connolly, who this week announced in a lengthy “Dear Colleague” letter that he, too, is seeking the position.

“The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is a beat I know well, and right now we need an expert who can parry the worst Republican attacks on our institutions and deliver reform where it is necessary and needed,” he wrote.

“Burrowing into issues, empowering our members to their full potential, and managing the broad range of policies and politics that come before our Committee – that is the job I will do as the Ranking Member,” he added.

Like Ocasio-Cortez, Connolly also named President-elect Donald Trump in his letter.

“Oversight Democrats must be an aggressive team focused on defending American democracy from President Trump and articulating a Democratic agenda that resonates with our constituents,” he wrote.

“As a former frontliner who survived my toughest reelection effort by just 981 votes, I know that our work in Congress must be seen as responsive to the kitchen table issues our voters are facing back home. Our constituents need to know that when it comes to them and their priorities, we are going to fight like hell,” he added.

Ocasio-Cortez also faces potential competition from Rep. Ro Khanna, whom the Washington Examiner has confirmed has been “hearing from colleagues about it, and he’s considering options.”

Other potential challengers include Reps. Stephen Lynch and Raja Krishnamoorthi.

Many critics for their part believe Ocasio-Cortez is wholly unequipped for the job as a ranking member:
