Billionaire Jeff Bezos is expressing excitement and optimism about the upcoming second term of President-elect Donald Trump.

During an interview at a New York conference, he also stated that he would be willing to help Trump reduce regulations, which could ultimately serve to benefit Bezos’ many businesses.

“‘I’m actually very optimistic this time around. He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. If I can help do that, I’m going to help him,” he said.

“We do have too many regulations in this country,” he added.

During the same interview, he defended the decision not to allow The Washington Post to endorse a political candidate during the 2024 residential race.

“Presidential endorsements do nothing to tip the scales of an election. No undecided voters in Pennsylvania are going to say, ‘I’m going with Newspaper A’s endorsement.’ None,” he said, arguing that it only serves to “create a perception of bias.”

“It was the right decision, I am proud of the decision we made. We knew that this was going to be perceived in a very big way, these things punch above their weight,” Bezos admitted. “You can’t do the wrong thing because you are worried about bad PR, or whatever you want to call it.”
