A ranking Democrat has publicly criticized outgoing president Joe Biden for tricking supporters and the country into thinking he would not use his presidential powers to intervene in his son’s legal troubles.
Acknowledging that he understood the president’s decision to pardon his son, California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his disappointment for taking “the president at his word.”
“With everything the president and his family have been through, I completely understand the instinct to protect Hunter,” Gov. Newsom told Politico.
However, Biden’s unexpected move to pardon his son contrary to his promise influenced Gov. Newsom to withdraw his support. “But I took the president at his word. So by definition, I’m disappointed and can’t support the decision.”
The California governor was Biden’s staunch supporter, even as the Democratic Party elites conspired to replace him with Kamala Harris.
Governor Newsom is expected to run for president on the party’s platform in 2028. Subsequently, he likely attempts to distance himself from Biden’s tainted legacy to avoid having to answer difficult questions when he finally decides to vie for president.
Nonetheless, Biden had reiterated that he would not pardon Hunter. However, he said he changed that position after witnessing his son being “selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted” for being the president’s son.
Biden subsequently gave Hunter a “full and unconditional pardon” for all convicted federal crimes and other “offenses against the United States” committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.
It also emerged that Biden had discussed pardoning Hunter with his closest aides but was instructed to assure the public that a presidential pardon was out of the question, although it remained on the table.
He also continued lying after pardoning his son by claiming that he made the decision at the last minute and notified his aides over the weekend, a position reiterated by the White House staff.
Meanwhile, Governor Newsom becomes the most senior Democrat so far to slam Biden for pardoning his disgraced son. However, the California Governor dismissed the possibility of an impeachment inquiry, saying, “Give me a break.”
Many Democrats are silently embarrassed by the president’s action. However, they avoid discussing the issue to avoid controversy, waiting for the dust to settle and moving on like it never happened.
Similarly, the corporate media that convinced Americans that Biden would not pardon Hunter has also largely avoided discussing the issue, even as far as expressing disappointment.
However, Whoopi Goldberg and Charlamagne tha God recently clashed over Hunter Biden’s pardon on ABC’s The View.
Goldberg insisted that nobody knows what forced Biden to pardon his son, and we cannot tell for sure if he lied.
However, Charlamagne pointed out the hypocrisy of branding Trump the greatest threat to democracy and turning around to do the same thing they accuse him of. Charlamagne’s position deeply upset Goldberg, forcing him to comfort her with a hug.
