Though President-elect Donald Trump once attempted to ban TikTok from the United States, his campaign accounts on the platform this cycle secured billions of views and drove viral trends on the platform throughout the cycle.
A post-election assessment of Trump content on the platform showed that, between the @realdonaldtrump account and the @teamtrump account, they achieved 3.8 billion combined views, with 928 million added since the election.
#Trump has gained 8 billion views since election day, reaching a total of 34.5 billion, while #donaldtrump has added 3 billion, for a total of 14.1 billion views.
HIs two main viral content trends, those involving his shift at McDonald’s and his use of a garbage truck, cleared 100 million views each. More than 30,000 videos about his McDonald’s shift accumulated 174 million views while 3,600 about the garbage truck drove 148 million.
