As the old saying goes, the customer is always right, especially when that customer is a hungry black bear.

Employees at a grocery store in Akita City, Japan, headed for the hills when a black bear roamed in and attacked an employee, leaving him with a head injury.

Once the store was evacuated, the bear had free range of the place, especially the meat counter, for two whole days.

Eventually, the authorities sent in an entire SWAT team to take the bear down.

And no, I’m not joking.

But, believe it or not, even with all those shields and weapons, they did not take the bear down.

In the end, they had to set a box trap for the bear with honey and apples, which, despite having all the food a bear could hope for, the overstuffed ursine still went for the bait.

Once the bear was trapped, it was anesthetized and removed.

Of course, once a bear learns that it can conquer an entire grocery store faster than a group of Somali pirates taking over an ocean freighter, it’s bound to try again, so the authorities had to put the bear down.

And since this is Japan, the store now has a way to replace all that meat:
