So this just happened at 6:45 this morning…
“Targeted … this suspect was waiting for hours, maybe overnight outside of the Hilton.”
The suspect is a 6-foot-tall man with a slim build wearing a cream-colored jacket with black gloves and a black face mask … and he is still on the loose.
The victim, 50-year-old Brian Thompson, was shot in the chest outside the Hilton Midtown on 6th Avenue in Manhattan, where he was staying for the company’s investors conference. The hotel is in one of the busiest spots of Manhattan, blocks away from Rockefeller Center where the annual Christmas tree lighting will be held Wednesday night.
CBS News says police are reviewing footage of the shooting.
A law enforcement source told CBS News investigators have a video of the shooting, and it appears suspect had been waiting for Thompson beforehand. He was not robbed, and police do not have a motive at this time.
Here’s how one witness described it.
‘I was looking at my phone and I hear the shot,’ he said. ‘I was shocked, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a crime right in front of me. Now I fear he could shoot me too.’
People are already asking questions about the motive because duh.
