Just when you think the arguments against President-elect Donald Trump’s nominations couldn’t get any more brain-dead, Democrats find a way.
Trump’s nomination of Kash Patel to the FBI Director position sent shockwaves through the left as their iron grip on America’s core institutions begins to wane. The panic is palpable and based on Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin’s statement, Democrats will throw anything at the wall to see what sticks.
“Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate an unqualified loyalist to lead the FBI,” Durbin posted on X.

My thoughts on Kash Patel’s nomination. A THREAD.

“We already have a FBI Director, Christopher Wray, and his term does not expire until 2027. President-elect Trump knows this, because he nominated Director Wray in 2017 after he fired the previous Director, James Comey, another lifelong Republican who failed Trump’s loyalty test,” he continued.

“President Biden kept Director Wray in office because the FBI is supposed to be insulated from partisanship. Now, the President-elect wants to replace his own appointee with an unqualified loyalist,” the congressman added, concluding his message by calling for the Senate to “reject this unprecedented effort to weaponize the FBI.”
The Senate should reject this unprecedented effort to weaponize the FBI for the campaign of retribution that Donald Trump has promised.

The Senate Judiciary Committee’s X account tweeted a similar message, which was quickly Community Noted, “We already have a FBI Director, and his term doesn’t expire until 2027. Donald Trump can’t be allowed to hire and fire FBI Directors just because they failed his loyalty test.”

The attached community note explains that the president has the ability to appoint FBI directors and thus, the “implied power to remove.”
“Under Article II, the president has the power to appoint and, as confirmed in the Supreme Court case Myers v. United States in 1926, the implied power to remove. Since 1973, the Judiciary Committee has conducted hearings on appointments to the FBI directorship.”
X users were quick to jump on the comments:
Are they serious? They can’t be serious.

Not knowing that Trump can replace the FBI director is proof that you are unqualified for the seat that you hold.
Too bad we can’t fire you for doing a poor job now.
