Though many in the mainstream media are in full-blown Democrat apologist mode (more so than normal) in the aftermath of Joe Biden’s “full and unconditional” pardoning of his son, convicted felon Hunter Biden, there are some for who the lame-duck president’s 11th-hour actions in invoking Democrat Privilege are the last straw.

Surprisingly, NBC News chief political analyst Chuck Todd is one of them. Todd, as RedState readers will recall, has for years been what I have previously described as the quintessential media water carrier for the Biden administration and the Biden family on the whole, no matter the issue.
One example that comes to mind was when Biden’s first year in the Oval Office was drawing to a close and the COVID pandemic was still front and center on everyone’s mind. During a Meet the Press segment, Todd openly pouted about Biden’s low approval ratings, claiming they were “not his fault.”
“His two big promises were to get Covid behind us and to get rid of Donald Trump. Covid’s not behind us and Donald Trump’s still lurking,” he stated at the time. “It’s not his fault, but is that why we’re in this no-man’s land here for him?”

So with all of that in mind, we turn to a back-and-forth exchange Todd had Monday with former CNN editor at large Chris Cillizza about the pardon. In it, Todd scorched Joe and Jill Biden as “selfish” for deciding to run in 2019 amid the Biden family’s numerous problems, blaming them both for the state the Democrat Party is in now and for the situation he says America now faces with Donald Trump as the soon-to-be-president:
“I followed the Hunter Biden trail very closely. I read every transcript, all the testimony because all that was made public. And there is… you want to read, you want to get angry just as somebody and just all these mixed emotions.
You read the Hallie Biden transcript, and that’s Beau’s widow. And essentially he turned her into a crack addict. And this was all happening in 2017, 2018. And Joe and Jill Biden were so concerned about their family that they decided to run for president.
I just – so when you talk about the word ‘selfish,’ it’s almost like the word doesn’t, I mean, their decision to run for president put the entire Democratic Party and the United States of America in the position that it’s in now.”

Watch:
I talk to @chucktodd every Monday for my newsletter.
It’s always a good conversation.
But, I thought Chuck NAILED it today on why the Hunter Biden trial really mattered when thinking about the Biden presidency and the pardon.

During the same segment, Todd also said Joe Biden “needed therapy” to deal with his son Beau Biden’s 2015 death from brain cancer, and that Biden should have never run for president in the first place because he had been “emotionally incapable” of holding the office to begin with:
“Joe Biden’s got—needs therapy and I say this with respect. He has not processed Beau’s death. He has an issue—he cannot, he has this issue with Hunter. He second-guesses everything he’s done with raising Hunter versus raising Beau. He, I think blames himself for Hunter’s inability to conduct himself as an adult for a period of time,” Todd said.

Todd concluded his response by claiming President Biden was “emotionally incapable” of being president and “probably never should have run.”
Now, Todd is telling on himself a whole lot here by letting the mask slip on his obvious left-wing political leanings with the anger and other emotions on display. He’s also overselling to some extent Joe and Jill Biden being what put the Democrat Party in the situation they are in now, though that certainly factors into the equation.
Nevertheless, his point about the Bidens deciding Joe should run amid all the personal family chaos surrounding Hunter Biden and the loss of Beau that was going on at the time (not to mention Joe Biden’s declining health, which Todd admittedly helped hide from the public) was a good one, and is one people should factor in when considering Joe Biden’s deeply troublesome political and personal “legacy” (which pundits obviously are doing as we speak).
