MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is facing a steep decline in ratings amid a significant post-election shift in cable news viewership following President-elect Donald Trump’s trouncing of Vice President Kamala Harris.

The far-left network has seen a sharp drop in audience numbers since victory, with Maddow’s show suffering a notable decline—falling behind even a rerun of Ancient Aliens in a recent ratings comparison.

According to Nielsen Media Research, MSNBC has lost 47% of its total-day audience compared to pre-election averages, now attracting 497,000 viewers. In the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demographic, viewership has plummeted to just 49,000.

The ratings slump extends to CNN, which has seen a 33% decline in total-day viewers, averaging 357,000, with 65,000 in the key demo, according to The Independent.

Primetime has been especially challenging for both networks. MSNBC’s primetime audience has dropped 52%, averaging 644,000 viewers, with only 63,000 in the 25-54 demographic. CNN’s primetime ratings have fallen 39%, drawing 453,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, Fox News has experienced a surge in post-election viewership, increasing 24% year-to-date and averaging 3 million primetime viewers, cementing its dominance in the cable news landscape, the report said.

Maddow, MSNBC’s flagship anchor, has struggled to maintain viewership for her show in the increasingly polarized post-election media environment. While her sharp critiques of Donald Trump and his administration have resonated with her loyal audience, critics argue that her approach may have less impact in a political landscape now dominated by conservative narratives.

Once earning a remarkable $30 million annually, Maddow has reportedly renegotiated her contract for a reduced amount. According to The Ankler, her deal was quietly renewed earlier this fall to just a $25 million payout over the next five years under significantly different terms.

“This is a difficult time and they needed to keep her,” an executive explained to The Ankler. “No one else can do what she does. You can’t build a brand like it overnight.” Another executive referred to Maddow as “ratings Viagra.”

Meanwhile, a top voice in the progressive politisphere has said that he is “optimistic” about Trump’s coming presidency.

Cenk Uygur, founder and host of “The Young Turks” podcast, has changed his opinion of MAGA (Make America Great Again) and said that he believes it is the political establishment, not Trump supporters, who are the ”enemy.”

“I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m more optimistic now than I was before the election, even though I was so against the guy who won. I know now. MAGA is not my mortal enemy (and neither is the extreme left). My mortal enemy is the establishment. And they have been defeated!” he said in a post on X.

“It’s not just that the establishment candidate lost, it’s that their media is mortally wounded. The source of their strength was not insipid politicians like Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden. The source of their strength was their propaganda machine – the mainstream media,” the host said.

“Now, online media is strong enough that their oppressive monopoly on the American mind has been broken. Now, we’re in the jungle. They hate that! I love it! This uncontrolled marketplace of ideas is where I’m home. I’d rather be in the populist woods than an establishment prison,” he said.

In March, the lefty host expressed his disdain for both the media and Trump when he criticized how the “bloodbath” comment was handled.

“I can’t stand Donald Trump and I think he’s a danger to American principles but he said ‘bloodbath’ in the context of an economic speech. Given his history of calling for violence, he should be more careful. But we need to be fair, he wasn’t advocating for violence this time,” he said.

After the assassination attempt against Trump in July, however, Uygur grew angry with the mainstream media’s reporting of Trump’s actions.

“I’ve seen so many people, whether it’s the mainstream media or on the Left, saying crazy things like it was staged,” he told to The Daily Signal in an interview at the Republican National Convention. “You’re really going to stage shooting you in the ear, and if they miss by a centimeter, they’re dead? Are you insane? Who would stage that? That’s just nuts.”
