Ratings tanking weren’t the only woes for one corporate media network post-election as a talking head was reportedly “p****d” at her peers for their meeting with President-elect Donald Trump.
After ceaseless demonization and fearmongering had proven ineffective in stopping another successful White House bid for the billionaire-turned-politician, many among the pundit class were left coping with their own influencing inadequacies.
Others, like MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, sought a different path in reaching out to Trump, a move that reportedly had the likes of Rachel Maddow feeling “stabbed in the back.”
According to a report in The U.S. Sun, “A journalist at MSNBC who has worked there for 15 years says the fallout has created a ‘very tense situation,’ with some feeling they have been ‘stabbed in the back.’”
The insider suggested to the outlet, “It was such a stupid thing to do. They have bent the knee to ensure not being targeted by Trump and the whole MAGA world.”
“They have lost a lot of credibility,” the source said of the “Morning Joe” co-hosts amid “civil war”-styled tensions at the network. “Rachel Maddow is p****d at them as are other presenters like Chris Hayes and [Ari] Melber. They are so frustrated.”
As had been reported, an olive branch was extended after the election as Scarborough and Brzezinski had met with Trump at his Palm Beach, Florida home and walked away with the acknowledgment, “Joe and I realized it’s time to do something different and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump but also talking with him.”

Despite reports that higher-ups at the network were okay with the Mar-a-Lago summit, the source told the Sun, “Some at the network are ‘sh****g their pants’ at the prospect of bowing to authority.”
“Some are thinking about trying to join other media organizations where we can do our job with respect and values to bring truth to the table without being pressured by the people in power,” the source expressed. “The meeting at Mar-a-Lago created a lot of tension in the teams, and many other stars host of the channel see both Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski as opportunistic and with very low self-respect and forgetting their values of being journalists with independence and integrity.”
“What were they thinking? Who do they think their audience was?” asked the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin who went on to suggest, “Well, perhaps this wasn’t about their audience. Perhaps this was them trying to defend themselves or avoid retribution that they thought was coming their way.”
“But really, these are rich, famous people. What have they got to worry about? It was just an appalling example of how eager so many elites are to fall in line, to curry favor, to deflect attention, to deflect any kind of incoming criticism that might come their way from the White House,” added Rubin as MSNBC had been in the throes of a ratings nosedive following the election.
Nielsen Media Research detailed ahead of Thanksgiving Day that the network had lost roughly half of its audience since the election and was hemorrhaging viewers in the key 25-54-year-old age demographic.

Meanwhile, as an MSNBC spokeswoman claimed to the Sun that Maddow hadn’t commented on the matter and “Any insinuation otherwise is merely speculative,” reported tensions were met with amusement and further encouragement for someone like Elon Musk to buy the network and clean house.
