Political persecution and a partisan pardon found exasperated White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre peppered with questions over the ramifications of President Joe Biden’s recent move.
With mental gymnastics only the most limber of leftist spinmeisters would dare dream up, the president’s blanket pardon of his federally convicted son dared to fault his own administration’s Department of Justice for allegedly going after Hunter Biden because of “political pressure.”
That labyrinthine logic appeared daunting for Jean-Pierre to maintain during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One Monday when the implications of Biden’s claim were laid bare.
“Does the president believe now and agree with President-elect Trump that the justice system has been weaponized for political purposes and that it needs root and branch reform?” asked one reporter.
“No. Read the president’s statement. Seriously, read the president’s statement. He said he believes in the Department of Justice. He does. He says it in his statement…He also believes that raw politics infected the process and it led to a miscarriage of justice,” tried Jean-Pierre at one point before arguing the Department of Justice had been pressured to renege on Hunter’s sweetheart deal.

“He’s saying his own Justice Department is broken,” argued another reporter as Biden’s statement argued “raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice” while also referring to the cases against his son as “selective prosecution.”
“The president took an action because of how politically infected these cases were,” contended the press secretary prompting the follow-up question, “So how deep is the rot? How many selective prosecutions are there at the DOJ?”
Jean-Pierre passed on addressing that and had to face the question, “The system doesn’t get corrupted by politics for people whose name is not Biden?”
“You’re twisting and misrepresenting what I’m saying. I’m talking about a particular issue right now,” she argued.

Elsewhere during the questioning, the spokesperson responded that the pardon would not have happened if Vice President Kamala Harris had won the election and noted that she would reveal whether or not the pardon had been discussed by the father-son duo while they spent the weekend in Nantucket. She also claimed there wasn’t a credibility issue given the repeated claims from herself and the president that this pardon wasn’t going to happen and insisted, “One thing the president believes is to always be truthful with the American people.”
Meanwhile, further heightening the absurdity of the claims that his son had been the victim of a politically weaponized Justice Department, the president was said to have no interest in accountability as Jean-Pierre notified the press that Biden was not seeking the resignation of Attorney General Merrick Garland who was responsible for appointing Special Counsel David Weiss who led the investigation against Hunter.
What remained consistent from the administration was their lack of interest in showing clemency to the J6 prisoners who were left counting on President-elect Donald Trump to review their cases on an individual basis.
